Sabina Aliyeva, Ombudsman of Azerbaijan, spoke at the VII international scientific-practical conference on "Problems of human rights protection in the Eurasian space: exchange of positive experience of ombudsmen".

During her speech, the Ombudsman of Azerbaijan noted that the protection and development of youth rights is an essential component of national policy. Azerbaijani youth actively participates in all spheres of public life. She emphasized that, as an Ombudsman institution, it carries out educational measures for all categories of the population, including the human rights of young people, gender equality, the fight against violence against women and child marriages, and increasing their activity.

The spiritual development of young people, patriotism education, education abroad, social protection, measures taken for the solution of their problems, and creating conditions and opportunities for the formation of youth organizations are the result of great attention to this field.

Considering the Ombudsman’s recommendations, it was said that the "2015-2025 Azerbaijani Youth Development Strategy" was approved to ensure young people's intellectual and physical development and their active participation in the social, political, and cultural life of the country.

In addition, it was emphasized that the Ombudsman mentored one of the winners of the national "Rise" Mentorship Competition, which was held in order to identify and support promising young leaders with high managerial skills.

It was noted that every year a group of volunteers is involved in the activities of the Ombudsman Office to involve the young generation in creative activities and to make young people understand the importance of human rights and freedoms.

Talking about the positive experience of Azerbaijan in protecting the rights of young people with disabilities, the Ombudsman noted that, considering her suggestions, measures have been taken to ensure the accessibility of such persons in all areas of public life, to allocate the necessary financial and human resources for the organization of inclusive education, as well as to attract relevant specialists.

In the end, S. Aliyeva emphasized the importance of sharing positive experiences in the field of youth rights protection within the framework of the international conference and proposed to continue cooperation in this field.
