Ombudsman Sabina Aliyeva Met with the Chief of Justice of Pakistan’s Federal Constitutional Court

Ms. Sabina Aliyeva, the Ombudsman of Azerbaijan, held a meeting with a delegation led by Mr. Amin-ud-Din Khan, Chief of Justice, Federal Constitutional Court of Pakistan.

During the meeting, the Ombudsman briefed the delegation members about the human rights reforms implemented in Azerbaijan.

The Ombudsman emphasized that cooperation is built with international organizations and NHRIs of other countries, including federal and regional ombuds institutions in Pakistan. She noted that particular importance is attached to developing relations among ombuds institutions, exchanging experience and strengthening cooperation within the framework of the OIC Ombudsman Association (OIC OA) and the Asian Ombudsman Association (AOA).

Sabina Aliyeva stated that the historical ties of friendship and brotherhood between Azerbaijan and Pakistan also provide a solid foundation for cooperation in the field of protection of human rights. It was noted that effective cooperation between the ombuds institutions of the two countries significantly contributes to sharing best practices in the protection of human rights and freedoms and strengthening institutional capacity.

The Ombudsman noted that the Ombudsman Institution has a successful cooperation with the Constitutional Court of Azerbaijan, which is developing to ensure more effective protection of human rights and freedoms.

Mr. Amin-ud-Din Khan, Chief of Justice, Federal Constitutional Court of Pakistan, thanked Ombudsman Sabina Aliyeva for her warm reception.

During the meeting, the parties discussed matters of mutual interest. Overall, the guests were presented with the reports prepared by the Ombudsman Institution of Azerbaijan.
