A three-day training program titled "Promoting Equality, Non-Discrimination, and Inclusion" is currently underway in Lankaran during the " Peace Month" declared by the Ombudsman of Azerbaijan.
The purpose of this training co-organized by the Ombudsman Institution of Azerbaijan and the Council of Europe County Office is to raise awareness regarding the promotion of equality and inclusive values, as well as the prohibition of all forms of discrimination, hate speech, and intolerance.
The training brings together staff members of the Ombudsman Office alongside representatives from central and local executive authorities, the judiciary, law enforcement agencies, and public entities operating across the southern region.
Throughout the program, national and international experts are delivering presentations and leading exchanges on key topics, including various forms of discrimination, hate speech versus freedom of expression, discriminatory narratives, and equality and inclusion in the digital environment.
During the event, different presentations focused on preventing discrimination against children, human rights-based and inclusive approaches to the rights of persons with disabilities, promoting equal rights, and ensuring child safety in digital spaces.
Participants are also engaged in practical workshops centered on countering hate speech, identifying and confronting harmful stereotypes, and developing communication tools that foster social solidarity, equality, and inclusion.
Designed to enhance the capacity of regional actors, the training equips participants with practical skills to identify, prevent, and mitigate discriminatory practices effectively.
The training course takes place from September 15 to 17, 2026.
