Azerbaijan’s Ombudsman Participated in the Next Board Meeting of the OIC Ombudsmen Association

Ombudsman of Azerbaijan, Sabina Aliyeva participated in the next meeting of the Board of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Ombudsmen Association (OICOA), held online.

During the meeting, discussions were held on the activities of the Association, the development of cooperation among member ombuds institutions, as well as preparations for the upcoming General Assembly of the Association and the next meeting of the Board, to be held in 2027.

During her speech, the Ombudsman noted that, in the modern era, Ombudsman institutions are facing challenges not only related to traditional human rights issues, but also arising from digital transformation, artificial intelligence, climate change, as well as new forms of discrimination and vulnerability. In this regard, she emphasized the importance of further strengthening practical cooperation and mutual exchange of experience among Ombudsman institutions.

Sabina Aliyeva proposed strengthening the systematic exchange of good practices among member institutions in handling complaints, preventive monitoring, protection of the rights of vulnerable groups, digitalization of Ombudsman services, human rights awareness-raising, equality, and the prevention of discrimination.

The Ombudsman noted that, to this end, it could be beneficial to organize short thematic experience-sharing sessions and online discussions, as well as to prepare materials on good practices and share them with member institutions.

Within the framework of the meeting, an exchange of views was also held on other issues included on the agenda.
