Foreign national’s complaint was investigated on-site within the Ombudsman’s National Preventive Mechanism mandate

Based on an appeal received by the Ombudsman’s “916” Call Center, members of the National Preventive Group conducted an unannounced visit to the Baku-based Temporary Accommodation Center for Foreigners of the State Migration Service of Azerbaijan.

During the visit, the documentation concerning detention of the foreign national was checked, followed by a confidential interview with the individual at the Main Migration Control Department. During the confidential meeting, the individual's requests were heard, the issues raised were examined, and the detained person was legally consulted about his rights and obligations.

In the course of the visit, the foreign national's appeal was satisfied on site, according to which he expressed gratitude for the prompt response.

It should be noted that the Ombudsman of Azerbaijan operates within the legislative mandate to protect the rights and freedoms of every person within the territory of the country, including foreign citizens and stateless persons.
