A staff member of the Ombudsman Office participated in the NHRI Academy Thirteenth Edition

Ms. Shahla Aslanova, Chief Advisor of the Equality and Discrimination Monitoring Department at the Ombudsman Office of Azerbaijan, participated in the NHRI Academy Thirteenth Edition in Zagreb.

The NHRI Academy titled, co-organized by ENNHRI and the OSCE ODIHR, focused on 'Empowering human rights narratives in a shifting information landscape: the role of NHRIs'.

The capacity-building event which brought together representatives from NHRIs across 26 European countries, focused on contemporary human rights trends, the promotion of gender equality, the potential of AI in the protection of rights, disinformation, hate crimes, anti-discrimination, as well as effective strategies for public outreach and communication.

During the training sessions, Ms. Aslanova informed trainees about the initiatives to promote equality and anti-discrimination, and raise public knowledge by the Azerbaijani NHRI. Initiatives aimed at ensuring the safety of children in the digital environment, promoting accessible environments for PWDs, and various awareness-raising campaigns were met with great interest by the attendees.

At the end of the program, participants developed action plans on how they will use their knowledge and experience in their future work. They were awarded certificates.
