Ombudsman's Representative Participated in a Case Handling Workshop held in Estonia

Veli Guliyev, an employee of the Department for Protection of the Right to Information of the Ombudsman Office, participated in the Case Handling Workshop held in Tallinn and organized by the Estonian Data Protection Inspectorate.

During his presentation on the topic "The Role of the Azerbaijani Ombudsman in Protecting the Right to Information", V. Guliyev provided information on the activities of the Ombudsman in ensuring the right to information, the oversight functions of the fulfillment of the duties of information owners under the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan "On Access to Information", and the authority to draw up an administrative protocol in case of violations of the said law. Following the presentation, he answered the participants’ questions.

The workshop focused on the legal frameworks and practices of public sector information, metadata and ensuring access rights, and complaint review and handling mechanisms in the freedom of information (FOI) and discussions on practical experiences and applied approaches in specific cases.
