Sabina Aliyeva, the Ombudsman of Azerbaijan, continued measures to protect the rights of repatriates.
On 21 April 2026, five citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan (two women and three children) who had lived in a conflict-affected area of the Syrian Arab Republic were repatriated to the country.
The Ombudsman’s representatives met with the repatriants placed in a relevant facility under the Social Services Agency of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population and gathered the necessary information from the institution.
During the meeting, the needs of the repatriants and the status of the protection of their rights were assessed, and they were informed about the Ombudsman’s mandate and the mechanisms through which they can seek protection of their rights.
