The OIC Ombudsman Association has issued a statement about drone attacks against the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.
The statement emphasized that the attacks carried out on the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic on March 5, 2026, are a matter of serious concern and that targeting civilian infrastructure is unacceptable. It was noted that incidents of this kind contribute to a serious risk not only to the safety of the civilian but also to stability and security in the region.
It was also indicated that the protection of civilians and civilian infrastructure is one of the fundamental principles of international humanitarian law and that adherence to the norms and principles of international law is essential for maintaining peace and stability.
The Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan expresses gratitude for the demonstrated solidarity and reaffirms that she will continue her activities aimed at protecting human rights, ensuring the safety of the civilian population, and promoting respect for the principles of international law.
