Public Survey Launched to Assess Rights of Persons with Disabilities Under the Independent Monitoring Mechanism of the Ombudsman

The Ombudsman of Azerbaijan attaches particular importance on ensuring equal rights and opportunities for persons with disabilities (PWDs), their social protection, promoting their full integration into society, and prohibiting discrimination against them.

It should be noted that, taking into account the obligations arising from the UN CRPD (Convention) and the relevant Committee’s recommendations, the Ombudsman carries out the functions of the independent mechanism for promoting, protecting, and monitoring the national implementation of the Convention.

The Ombudsman, as an indepedent monitoring mechanism, continues to take measures for the protection and promotion of the PWDs rights as a result of the investigation of incoming applications, through responding to information requests, conducting monitoring visits, carrying out analytical assessments, preparing opinions and recommendations, and implementing legal awareness-raising activities.
