The Office of the Ombudsperson hosted an event dedicated to the Victory Day celebration on 8 November.
Ombudsperson Sabina Aliyeva and the office staff visited the Military Memorial Complex prior to the event and paid tribute to the martyrs.
In her opening remarks, the Ombudsman said that this date would always be etched in every Azerbaijani’s memory as a symbol of our people’s unity, will, and invincibility.
According to the Ombudsman, the victory was achieved by the leadership of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, President Ilham Aliyev, the heroism of our army and the solidarity of our people. As a result we freed our lands were from occupation, and restored the territorial integrity and sovereignty of our state. She noted that as a part of the Great Return program, reconstruction works were successfully implemented in those areas, and the return of former IDPs to their homes was ensured.
The Ombudsman said that fact-finding missions to investigate war crimes committed by Armenia during the war and post-war period were conducted, and the mission reports, the relevant statements, and international appeals were submitted to corresponding international organizations. It was noted that the ombuds institution’s initiatives to ensure human rights and improve social welfare in the liberated territories.
Then, during her speech, Sevinj Alizadeh, Chairwoman of the "Zafar" Martyr Families Support Public Union, noted that the state prioritizes providing care to the families of martyrs as part of its policy.
Mobil Ahmadzadeh, the war participant, also spoke about the bravery of the Azerbaijan Army under the leadership of the Victorious Supreme Commander-in-Chief and the Ombudsperson’s activities to protect the rights of military personnel, war participants, and veterans during the Patriotic War.
Samir Guliyev, an employee of the Office and a war participant, said that the glorious victory achieved was possible thanks to the dedication of our victorious army under the leadership of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief and the unity of our people.
During the event, Sabina Aliyeva awarded Sevinj Alizadeh and some staff members the jubilee medal of the 20th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Ombuds office.
