The Ombudsperson of Azerbaijan constantly pays attention to the issues of the repatriation of our citizens living in difficult conditions abroad, as well as ensuring their rights and freedoms.
On October 22, 2025, 6 citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan, including 2 women and 4 children, were repatriated from the Syrian Arab Republic.
The employees of the Office of the Ombudsperson met with those repatriates placed in the social service institution of the Social Services Agency under the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population. During the meeting, the Ombudsperson’s representatives got information about medical, social, and psychological services the repatriates received and examined the status of ensuring their rights.
In the course of the meeting, it was determined that the children need specialized psychological assistance to solve their psychological problems and social adaptation, and this information was brought to the attention of the institution's management. The visitors recommended integrating the repatriates into society and taking advantage of educational and employment opportunities.
During the meeting, repatriates were provided with extensive information about the Ombudsperson's activity directions and existing human rights protection mechanisms.
