The staff members of the Ombudsman Office participated in the event “There are no barriers on the path to success”

An event dedicated to the Knowledge Day was held on the amphitheater stage of the Heydar Aliyev Recreation Park in the Khatai district. The purpose of the event was to support the integration of children with different developmental characteristics into society, showcase their talents, and draw public attention to an inclusive approach.

The event, jointly organized by the Khatai District Executive Authority, Baku City Main Department of Culture, Social Services Agency, and the "Social Assistance to Persons with Cochlear Implants" Public Association, was attended by Ayten Tarverdiyeva, Head of the Unit for Protection of the PWD’s Rights of the Ombudsman Office, and Mugalib Mahmudov, Head of the Legal Education Unit.

Speaking at the event, a representative of the Ombudsman Office noted that one of the main priorities of state policy is to strengthen support for socially vulnerable groups, especially people with disabilities. The covering of cochlear implant surgery and other related procedures for children with severe to profound sensorineural hearing loss free of charge by the Compulsory Medical Insurance is of particular importance.

The importance of the work done to ensure equal access of persons with hearing and speech disabilities to education, health, employment, and public life was also highlighted. In this regard, the Ombudsman, Sabina Aliyeva, made recommendations  to improve the relevant legislation and, through legal awareness-raising activities, supports the development of legal thinking and legal culture in society.

In the event, children with different developmental milestones demonstrated their talents, the organizers and the children were awarded, and an exhibition of their handiwork was also reviewed.
