A representative of the Office of the Ombudsman participated in the OSCE Annual Human Dimension Meeting

The Third Supplementary Human Dimension Meeting of the OSCE of 2025 was held in Vienna, Austria, on June 2-3, 2025. Javidan Gorchiyev, Head of the Equality Unit of the Ombudsman Office of Azerbaijan, the event, dedicated to the topic “Human Rights and Equality: The Role of Effective National Mechanisms”.

Azerbaijan has historically been distinguished by its values of tolerance and multiculturalism, and these values are still protected and promoted today, the Ombudsman's representative said during his speech at the event, which was attended by state officials, non-governmental organizations, and representatives of national human rights institutions from various countries.

J. Gorchiyev also gave the participants an update on the national reforms that have been put in place to protect human rights and freedoms, the current legal standards for guaranteeing equality and combating discrimination, and the Ombudsman's role in this regard. It was said that the Constitutional Law on the Ombudsman of Azerbaijan was amended in 2023 to further extend the Commissioner's authority to prevent discrimination and ensure the right to equality.

The information was also provided on the educational activities carried out by the Ombudsman Institution in the field of prevention of discrimination and promotion of equality, as well as the releasing of educational printed materials and a social video to the broad audience.

The meeting continued with mutual exchange of views and discussions.
