The Ombudsman participated in the scientific-practical conference on the topic "Constitution and Sovereignty - Important Factors of the Legal State"

The Ombudsman of Azerbaijan, Sabina Aliyeva, participated in the scientific-practical conference on the topic "Constitution and Sovereignty - Important Factors of a Legal State" organized by the Constitutional Court  to mark the 102nd anniversary of the birth of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev.

The Ombudsman at the event, spoke on the topic "The Importance of the Ombudsman's Cooperation with the Constitutional Court in the Protection of Human Rights in the Independent and Sovereign State of Azerbaijan." She pointed out that the Constitution of Azerbaijan, authored by the National Leader, plays the role of a legal basis for building a democratic, legal, secular state in the country and gives impetus to the future development of the state.

S. Aliyeva stated that that the protection of Azerbaijan's state independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity is one of the main goals of the Constitution. It was also said that under the leadership of Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev, the internationally recognized territories and sovereignty of our country have been fully restored, and peace and stability have been ensured in the region.

S. Aliyeva noted that institutional reforms implemented in the field of improving legislation have created the basis for more reliable protection of human rights and freedoms, and said that within the framework of these reforms, significant initiatives have been put forward to expand the mandate of the Ombudsman based on international legal norms.

The Ombudsman noted that the recent amendments to the Constitutional Law on the Ombudsman of the Republic of Azerbaijan have expanded the mandate in ensuring the right to equality, preventing discrimination, and other areas.

The Ombudsman underlined that this cooperation is of particular importance in terms of the effective protection of human rights and freedoms, and serves the goals of ensuring the supremacy of the Organic Law and increasing the effectiveness of legal protection mechanisms.
