Cooperation with international ombudsman institutions
During the terms of office of current Azerbaijani Commissioner, it was signed 15 cooperation agreements at the initiative of the Commissioner. These countries include Turkey, Poland, the Russian Federation and its subjects, such as Moscow, Sverdlovsk, Saratov, Orenburg, Kaluga Oblasts, Republic of Dagestan, Republic of Tatarstan, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Georgia, Moldova and Pakistanş
The main purpose of those agreements was to assist by the national human rights institutions to nationals of the Republic of Azerbaijan living abroad and vice versa in restoration of their violated rights and freedoms in the countries party to the agreements; furthermore, timely inform each-other about the violations of rights and freedoms and to help to restore them within their competences. According to the abovementioned documents ombudsman institutions shared their views and practical experience in a view to improve the professional capacities of staff members with the relevant matters.
Furthermore, under those documents staff members of the Azerbaijani Ombudsman Office are sent on business trip to the NHRIs of the abovementioned countries on a regular basis as well as the workers of those institutions are also had a practice here. At the initiative of our Commissioner, the international conferences of ombudspersons held in Baku annually and the participation of representatives of foreign ombudsmen and the workers of the NHRIs signed a bilateral agreementin these conferences and other events has been an important factor in further strengthening and developmentof international cooperation.
